Emoticons font was originally designed with the intent of being used with instant messenging clients. It does not somehow automatically convert improvised emoticons into an equivalent symbol. If you have an instant messenger and this font is installed on both your system and the system of the person you are chatting with, you can switch to this font and type a "smiley" character to them, then switch back to your text font of choice. The images in this font are NOT text characters. They are emoticons constructed as vector art, and are therefore protected under not only copyright for the code in the font itself but ALSO as the individual copyrighted images. Emoticons font is not to be redistributed without express, written consent. Use of this font in ANY commercial art purpose (such as advertising, magazine layouts, etc.) requires commercial license of this font at a price of $100 US dollars per national market. Such individual license of this font does not entitle the user to redistribute, repackage, or otherwise violate copyrights. Non-commercial, personal use is permitted without registration. Conversion of this font for commercial re-release without license will therefore constitute a violation of the copyrights and legal action will be taken against violators. Likewise, use of images from this font in t-shirts, posters, corporate logos, etc. would constitute a violation of copyrights. Those applications are NOT permitted within the license of the font for individual commercial use, and payment and terms of license of images will have to be arranged with the author.
