Hylian 64 font

======================================== -Hylian 64 by BRPXQZME ======================================== This TTF font for Windows is based on the Hylian glyphs found at certain points in the games The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Master Quest, and Majora's Mask. (Not as found in the Wind Waker, which is set at a later point in time and uses more and different characters). Spoken Hylian is indiscernable from Japanese, and written Hylian is a cipher of the Japanese system. Hylian is the lingua franca of the Zelda world, most notably used in the lands of Hyrule and Termina. Knowledge of the language is imperative for travellers of these regions, which are known to have problems with monsters and such every now and then, making it necessary to have at least a sword and shield, or some other method of defense. Merchants and shopkeepers will more likely than not use Hylian exclusively. ======================================== -Accuracy ======================================== The glyphs themselves are readable as Hylian, however the font was based as much as possible on a 5 by 7 grid of pixels, rather than taking a close study of the games themselves. Also, while the Hylian syllabary is based of that of Japanese, the encoding for this font was based on ASCII and mapped for the QWERTY keyboard instead of encoded for Japanese. This is the fault of the author, who does not know how to set it as such. Therefore, the font is mapped for use by standard US QWERTY keyboards. ======================================== -How to read Hylian ======================================== The syllabary is a basic cipher of that of the Japanese; knowledge of that writing system is highly recommended, because it is pointless for the user to attempt to transliterate words to Hylian otherwise. It will be assumed for the rest of the document that the user knows how to use the Japanese kana writing systems. Hylian is normally written left to right, although occasionally right to left. If written the latter way, the text is to be flipped horizontally from the way this font presents the glyphs. However, this method is rarely used, and even more rarely typed as such. Hylian DOES NOT have the dakuten and han-dakuten to indicate the g, z, d, b, and p rows. For these, the character without these diacritic marks is used. In addition to this limitation which makes the text difficult to read, characters that are shrunken in normal Japanese text (such as the tsu to indicate a double consonant, or the ya, yu, or yo to indicate a palatalized syllable) are kept at normal size. This font provides a space character, but it is only used in Hylian for style, but the user should feel free to use to use it however he or she pleases. ======================================== -How to type Hylian using this font ======================================== This font should be used in Roman mode if using a Japanese input system. The keys are mapped as such: 1 2 3 4 5 a i u e o 6 7 8 9 0 ka ki ku ke ko q w e r t sa shi su se so y u i o p ta chi tsu te to a s d f g na ni nu ne no h j k l ; ha hi fu he ho z x c v b ma mi mu me mo - [ ' ya yu yo n m , . / ra ri ru re ro = ] wa wo \ n' ======================================== - Q&A ======================================== Q: Who are you, anyway? A: My name is Alfie Parthum. I go to Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. I do LOTS of stuff, too much to write here, sorry. Q: Alfie, you are a freak. A: Thank you. Q: Alfie, you are so sexy I want to-- A: Um, Thank you. Q: Can I put this on my site? A: Good question. Yes, go ahead, but give me clear credit, because I just might decide to find out where you live. Q: Nihongo-wo naraimasu ka? A: Hai. Demo, heta desu. Sensei wa Fujita-sensei. Tomasu Jefaason koukou no Nihongo no sensei desu. Q: Hablas Espa
