Toon Plain font

Rick Montgomery

ToonTown is a clip-art font composed of drawings of various characters, some of which bear striking resemblances to familiar faces from cartoons, comics, and other sources. This is version 0.1, which contains 52 characters: all upper- and lowercase letters except capital M, which is reserved for a certain rodent, and a rendering of my own mug, of dubious accuracy, as the "caron" or inverted circumflex character (I think it's shift-option-T). It is available only in TrueType and only for the Mac because that's the only format I made. Maybe the next release will include fine-tuned bitmaps, but I intended the font for use with a 300dpi printer, not for screen resolution, so maybe it won't. It's more likely to include a PostScript version, but only slightly so. I claim no copyright in these images since all were traced from icons that, as far as I know, are in the public domain. Enjoy them, and of you feel a need to pay something for them please contribute $5 or so to the non-religious educational institution of your choice. If you want to tell me what a nice job I did, or send me icons or small PICTs of images you'd like to see included in the next version, or if you just want to say hi, I can be reached at any of the Internet addresses listed below. This is the first font I have released, so words of encouragement and constructive criticism are also appreciated and may be sent to the same addresses. Meanwhile, please do me the courtesy of including this note with any copies of the font that you distribute. Enjoy, Rick Montgomery [email protected] [email protected] [email protected]
